Ornellaia is among the elite of Italian wine and is known worldwide as a name
a symbol of Italian-made products. Tenuta dell’Ornellaia was founded relatively
recently, in 1982, but from day one it set itself a very specific goal:
excellence. The winery was born from a brilliant insight by Ludovico Antinori, who in the early
1980s planted the first vineyards with Bordeaux grape varieties on his land in Bolgheri.
The story of Ornellaia is the story of a rather wild corner of Tuscany transformed into one of the
cradles of Italian wine. The Bolgheri area is, in fact, dotted with cypress trees and migratory birds, and is influenced
by the Tyrrhenian Sea, yet never loses sight of its connection to the land. The wines produced by
Ornellaia are true works of art, so much so that for each new vintage, an internationally renowned
artist designs a series of 111 large-format bottles for the winery.
Many of its wines, such as the Bolgheri Rosso Ornellaia, are true cult classics in the world of wine.
These wines, which truly border on perfection—sensual and elegant—are always found on the most
exclusive tables around the globe, confirming their status as among the finest expressions of Italian
winemaking excellence.
