Description
This wine takes its name from the Marchesi Antinori’s Guado al Tasso estate where it is easy to see badgers crossing fords in streams.
The vineyards are located at an altitude between 45 and 60 meters above sea level on rocky, slightly calcareous soils. The Guado al Tasso estate is located about 50 miles southwest of Florence, near the medieval town of Bolgheri in Maremma. From the size of 900 hectares, it stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills: in addition to vineyards, crops include wheat, corn, sunflower, tomato and olive.
Guado al Tasso was first produced in 1990; subsequent vintages are 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998.
It has contributed to elevating Bolgheri among the most important areas in winemaking Europe, expressing a distinctly Mediterranean character of power, elegance and balance.
All vintages were produced in limited quantities.
